MLB Star Alex Rodriguez Said We're Almost 50 Now In Response To A Former Teammate's Criticisms

Doug Mientkiewicz and Alex Rodriguez, formerly a high school and New York Yankees teammates, have verbally spat this week after the former harshly criticized the latter on the “Foul Territory” podcast. They are all MLB Star.

After years in the spotlight and a prosperous MLB career, Mientkiewicz, a former Gold Glove and World Series champion, said Rodriguez had forgotten where he came from. However, in his response, Rodriguez wanted to put the ugly past behind him.

Mientkiewicz predicts that A-Rod will “die a lonely man”

Rodriguez and Mientkiewicz played baseball for the Yankees in 2007. They were classmates at Florida’s Westminster Christian School. Rodriguez has left his old friends hanging, according to the former first baseman, and it is one of the reasons Mientkiewicz believes the former MVP will “die a lonely man.”

“I’m still friends with my high school team. We still text often, not as often as we should, but we still text, group thread, constantly badgering each other.”

“He’s just distant from it. I don’t care how good or how great you become and how far your career goes, you never forget your high school dudes.”

“This is meant to be the good old days”

In response, Rodriguez, who is now a minority owner of the NBA team Minnesota Timberwolves, said he was “shocked and surprised” to read the news items that his relatives had forwarded to him.

Rodriguez wished Mientkiewicz luck and said he would never speak negatively about an ex-teammate in public despite not explicitly responding to Mientkiewicz’s claims.

“I mean, look, we’re almost 50 now.”

“This is supposed to be the good old days when we look back, and we cringe about some of the weird things that we did, and we’re proud of the relationships we built over the years. So, you take that with a grain of salt and you wish everyone well and you move on.”
