Raiders Willing to Trade Up to Get the Quarterback They ‘Love’: Derek Carr
One possible suitor for Arizona’s quarterback draft choice may be the Las Vegas Raiders. Jimmy Garoppolo has not just signed a three-year, $72.8 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, right? I don’t think the Raiders see Garoppolo as a long-term solution.
One possible suitor for Arizona’s quarterback draft choice may be the Las Vegas Raiders. According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, at least.
The Raiders “are willing to move up there and perhaps have some conversations to go get their guy,” Russini stated on Get Up if a quarterback catches their eye.
But, just a minute, what, Jimmy Garoppolo has not just signed a three-year, $72.8 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, right? I don’t think the Raiders see Garoppolo as a long-term solution, but you’re right.
Garoppolo has been in two NFC championship games and has played under Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels before.
However, he has only played one full season in the NFL since he entered the league in 2014. The terms of Garoppolo’s deal also imply that Vegas isn’t convinced he’s the actual solution.
Garoppolo’s departure after this season would free up $9.3 million in salary space for the Raiders in 2024. And they might want to reuse it somewhere else.
One caveat is that Vegas would need to “love” the other third-round prospects.
What the Panthers and Texans do at the top of the draft will have a significant impact, and the Raiders are extremely unlikely to make a move before opening night.
It’s not hard to imagine the Raiders jumping at the chance to choose a quarterback in the top three in the draft. However, if Las Vegas is not convinced by the remaining QB choices, it is likely to stick at No. 7 and choose the top defensive talent available.
Las Vegas Raiders
Professional American football is played in the Las Vegas region by the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders are a football team from Oakland, California, that plays in the American Football Conference (AFC) West of the National Football League (NFL).
The team is based out of Henderson, Nevada, but plays its home games in Paradise, Nevada’s Allegiant Stadium.
The Oakland Raiders are a professional American football team that was founded on January 30, 1960. The team’s first home was in Oakland, California. When the AFL and NFL merged in 1970, they made the transition to the NFL.
When the squad was first conceived, the name “Oakland Seors” was strongly considered. The team’s initial theme colours, orange and black, were later abandoned in favour of a different colour scheme.
From the 1982 season through the 1994 season, the club played in Los Angeles before moving back to Oakland for the 1995 season.
The relocation of the Raiders to Las Vegas was approved by a near unanimous vote of NFL team owners on March 27, 2017. On January 22, 2020, over three years later, the Raiders uprooted and headed to Sin City.
