Three Mighty Basketball Teams

Winning a championship is unquestionably a bigheaded occassion for any NBA team.

Given that several of these teams competed in various eras, ranking them is challenging. We shall instead focus on their accomplishments and the challenges they faced at the time.

As we examine each team’s important moments and players, we will also find out how those players joined the greatest teams in championship history.

Some NBA teams, more than others, have a rich history of championship moments. So it seems to be difficult to determine that which the best team of NBA is.

In this article we have tried to rank the top three NBA teams of all time.

Chicago Bulls 1991-1992

With coach like Michael Jordan, Scottien Pippen, Horace Grant, John Paxon and Bill Cartwright, the Phil Jackson coached bulls were a deadly force. The 1991-1992 Bulls ought to be at the top of the list if there is a team that promotes efficiency.

This was a spirited Bulls club that was in the Eastern Conference’s elite division, since no other team finished the season with more than 60 victories. They were going for a second straight championship.

With an average of 30.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game, Michael Jordan led the Bulls. Due to his significant impact, he was selected as an All-Star for that season and helped his team capture the scoring title.

With 21.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 7.0 assists, Scottie Pippen, in addition to Michael Jordan, also had a significant impact. Pippen was also selected as an All-Star.

Horace Grant, who averaged a double-double of 14.2 points and 10.0 rebounds per game for the Bulls, was a key component of their success.

Jordan’s goal against the Miami Heat served as a warning to playoff opponents that Jordan and the Bulls were on the rise. In that series, he scored 45.0 points on average, including a scorching 56-point outing.

The New York Knicks were a formidable opponent for the Bulls, as they faced a team that included players like Tim McCormick, Charles Oakley, and Patrick Ewing.

Amongst these two premier teams, there existed an affair. The Knicks showed they could compete at home by stealing a game in Chicago.

The Bulls’ hunger to win the championship, though, proved to be too much for the Knicks, who dominated the Bulls 100-81 in Game 7.

In that contest, Scottie Pippen posted a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists while Michael Jordan scored 42 points.

The Bulls played the Mark Price-led Cavaliers after a gruelling 7-game series against the Knicks.

In Games 2 and 4, the Cavaliers, the second-best club in the Eastern Conference, presented a challenge for the Bulls.

The Bulls won the series in six games, though, as their starting lineup proved to be too much for the Cavaliers.

The deadly Portland Trail Blazers, who had Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter, and Kevin Duckworth, faced up against the Bulls in the championship game.

Chicago and Portland exchanged victories for one another to start the streak.

In Game 6, where the Bulls were able to defeat the Blazers by a score of 97-93, Michael Jordan and the Bulls put an end to what appeared to be a streak of 7 games.

Jordan scored a game-high 33 points, which was sufficient to win the series and win the coveted NBA championship for the second consecutive year.

This Bulls team deserved to be ranked third on this list given how they were able to outperform their rivals.

Around this time, the combo of Jordan, Pippen, and Grant proved to be too much for their rival teams!

Chicago Bulls 1995-1996

Record 72-10

In the 1995–96 NBA season, the Chicago Bulls attained the pinnacle of their excellence and, really, of greatness in general

The Chicago Bulls underperformed in the 1994–95 season, in part because Michael Jordan was away playing baseball. Jordan did, however, make an unexpected recovery later in the season.

His comeback didn’t materially improve the team’s situation, though, as they were defeated by the Orlando Magic in the playoff second round.

There was therefore no question that Jordan and the Bulls were prepared to return a championship to the Windy City heading into the 1995–96 season.

The Bulls kept up their tradition of playing together as a unit. In tight games, Jordan carried the team by making clutch shot after clutch shot.

In the end, the unyielding Bulls set an NBA record with 72 victories to close off the regular season.

The group breezed through the postseason, defeating Gary Payton’s Seattle SuperSonics, and taking home yet another NBA championship.

This is what it is. The 1995–96 Chicago Bulls are the greatest NBA team in history.

The Bulls were undoubtedly back.

Los Angeles Lakers 2000-2001

The 2000–01 Lakers were coming off of winning the title the previous year. They nevertheless went to the second one as well despite that.

The Lakers, led by the unstoppable pair of Shaquille O’Neal and the rookie Kobe Bryant, were unbeatable in the playoffs despite being in the middle of their bracket.

The Phil Jackson-coached Lakers displayed absolute domination in the playoffs, going undefeated on their route to the Finals despite not being the top team in the Western Conference during the regular season.

Shaquille O’Neal was a key player in their postseason run, easily averaging a double-double with 30.4 points and 15.4 rebounds per game—a performance that earned him Finals MVP honors.

With an average of 29.4 points and 6.1 assists, Kobe Bryant, showed that he could be a hazardous and prolific companion for Shaq.

Shaq and Kobe lead the Lakers in three games in the opening round against the Portland Trail Blazers.

When playing againts Shawn Kemp, Scottie Pippen, Rasheed Wallace, and Arvidas Sabonis, the purple and gold won by an average of 11.3 points.

In the second round, the Lakers faced Chris Weber and the Sacramento Kings, which also featured Vlade Divac, Hedo Turkoglu, and Peja Stojakovic, and proceeded to dominate.

Shaquille O’Neal started off hot, recording two straight 40-20 performances while playing in Games 1 and 2.

In game one, Shaq had 44 points and 21 rebounds, and in game two, he had 43 points and 20 rebounds. Kobe Bryant had 48 points and 16 rebounds in Game 4 to help the Lakers defeat the Kings.

The amazing duo continued after that! Against the San Antonio Spurs, the top seed in the Western Conference, they didn’t even shy away.

David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Avery Johnson, and Steve Kerr served as the Spurs’ coaches. Gregg Popovich also served as their coach.

The Lakers easily trounced them in 4 games despite being a strong playoff contender, demonstrating their playoffs dominance.

The Lakers then played the Allen Iverson-led Philadelphia 76ers after their match with the Spurs was over.

The Lakers lost Game 1 at home for the first time in the playoffs, 101-107 in overtime.

The purple and gold would, however, respond sympathetically, winning their next 4 straight games to defeat Iverson and the Sixers in 5 games and capture the coveted NBA championship.

Given their utter dominance in the playoffs, this Lakers team ought to place in the top 5. Only one team has so far managed to match this.

This team is one of the few that decisively defeated the respectable rivals of its day.

With Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant at Phil Jackson’s disposal, it is obvious why this Lakers squad was feared in the early 2000s.

Los Angeles Lakers 1986-1987

Record 65-17

The 1985–86 Los Angeles Lakers season was unsuccessful. They had a 62-win regular season, but were defeated by the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference finals, preventing them from advancing to the NBA Finals.

Even not as good as, the Boston Celtics had become the new global champions.

Consequently, it is simple to infer that the Lakers craved to retake their reign.

The Lakers had a fantastic regular season the year before, winning 65 games. At 23.9 PPG and 12.2 APG, Magic Johnson led the squad in both scoring and assists production. James Worthy, who averaged 19.4 PPG, started to take on a bigger role for the squad. While Byron Scott, A.C. Green, Michael Cooper, Mychal Thompson, and Kurt Rambis performed admirably in their roles as key players, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar continued to display brief moments of inside domination.

The Boston Celtics, the defending NBA champions, faced off against the Lakers in the NBA Finals, which the Lakers easily advanced to.

The Lakers prevailed after an epic six-game struggle; they won the title once more.

Los Angeles Lakers 1971-1972

You can see why the Los Angeles Lakers were a great team by taking a look at their 1971–1972 rosters.

The Lakers were able to successfully pass the ball to each other despite being stacked with offensive threats like Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain, Gail Goodrich, and Happy Hairston.

As a result, the team overwhelmed its opponents and set a record by winning 33 straight games from November to January.

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals after finishing the regular season with a league-high 69 victories.

3. Golden State Warriors 2016-2017

The Warriors were as desperate as ever to recover and win the NBA championship after a poor run in the previous season, and this club succeeded in doing so.

By bringing in All-Star forward Kevin Durant in free agency, the Warriors created a bit of a splash while upsetting the NBA community.

With its current All-Stars, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, this squad could score from practically anyplace thanks to Kevin Durant.

There was little doubt that the rest of the league was having trouble keeping up with such a fantastic club. The Warriors were the most productive team that year and also topped the league in scoring as a unit.

The Warriors were the top seed in the Western Conference at the conclusion of the regular season.

Three team members were able to score an average of more than 22 points. Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and Stephen Curry all had averages of 25, 22, and 25, respectively.

However, Draymond Green’s all-around performance—which included 10.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 7.0 assists—perfectly matched the play of these three superstars.

This Warriors team destroyed defences all season long with their precise and reliable shooting, while Andre Iguodala, Matt Barnes, JaVale McGee, and Draymond Green worked the defensive end.

The Warriors and Kevin Durant continued to rule the NBA playoffs. In 4 games, they handily defeated the Portland Trail Blazers.

Over the series, the Warriors shot a deadly 40% from beyond the arc while shooting 48% overall. When Golden State faced the Utah Jazz in the next round, they remained just as lethal.

Once more, the Warriors squad used their brooms to sweep their opponent from the field in 4 games, all by double-digit margins.

In the Western Conference Finals, the top-seeded Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs eventually met.

As it appeared that the Spurs would win the first game, their opponents rallied and overcame a 25-point deficit thanks to Stephen Curry’s 40 points.

After then, the injury to Kawhi Leonard forced the Spurs to sit out the remainder of the series, and the Warriors swept the seasoned San Antonio Spurs with ease.

Unbeaten in the postseason, the Warriors met their Eastern rivals, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, in the championship game.

This time around, the Warriors had Kevin Durant, therefore the Cavaliers struggled and only achieved one victory in the series. This was the Warriors’ sole postseason loss.

Yet, despite this defeat, the Warriors were able to defeat the Cavaliers in Game 5 and prevent a recurrence of the previous season (when they lost a 3-1 lead).

Although it was clear that there were three other candidates deserving of the MVP award, Kevin Durant was chosen as the Finals MVP. This only serves to highlight the Warriors team’s superiority.

With their roster’s star power, total accomplishments, and roster makeup, this club might be the greatest NBA team ever. Although we’ll place them second on our list, two of the players on the roster are unquestionably among the Top 20 NBA players of all time.
