Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge ruled out for ten days with toe injury
The New York Yankees have announced that outfielder Aaron Judge’s spectacular running catch on Saturday has put him on the 10-day injured list.
The New York Yankees have announced that outfielder Aaron Judge’s spectacular running catch on Saturday has put him on the 10-day injured list.
The incident also prompted the Los Angeles Dodgers to change the fence in the right field where Judge barreled through.
Dodgers executive Stan Kasten told The Athletic that the team would reinforce the chain-link fence and add extra padding to the concrete portion where Judge injured his big toe.
Initially, Kasten believed that Judge had gone through the fence door in the visitors’ bullpen.
However, upon closer inspection, he realized the door didn’t open in that direction. As a result, extra padding will be added to the visitors’ and home bullpen to prevent future injuries.
According to Kasten, Judge broke through the barrier between two connecting panels, which he described as “unbelievable.”
The Dodgers will strengthen the fence and add a strip of padding to the bottom to avoid similar incidents in the future.
The incident happened towards the end of the eighth inning when Dodgers outfielder J.D. Martinez hit a ball toward right field.
Judge made a fast and impressive catch but ran through the fence and stubbed his right toe on the bottom of the bullpen fence.
The play prevented the Dodgers from advancing Max Muncy into scoring position but injured Judge.
The Yankees’ star outfielder was ruled out with a right big toe injury. Manager Aaron Boone stated that there is no fracture and no official timetable for Judge’s return to the lineup.
Judge’s official diagnosis is a contusion and ligament sprain, and he has received a platelet-rich plasma injection.
