The Celtics sold the Charlotte native to the Dallas Mavericks in a three-team sign-and-trade that included the San Antonio Spurs for those teams to take on veteran wing Reggie Bullock’s contract. Williams will now sign a new four-year deal worth $53 million.
The storied basketball team made the difficult choice to part ways with restricted free agent forward Grant Williams earlier this week in exchange for two second-round draft picks and a traded player exception (TPE) of roughly $6.2 million. This move was made as the Boston Celtics continued restructuring their roster in the NBA‘s 2023 off-season.
