After The Chiefs’ Loss, Davante Adams Shoved Photographer, Which Led To Lawsuit
Davante Adams, a receiver with the Las Vegas Raiders, dodged punishment last year after knocking a camera operator to the ground after the team’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but he might still face the consequences.
According to the Kansas City Star, the videographer filed a lawsuit on Thursday against Adams, the Chiefs, and the Raiders.
The event happened following last season’s tight 30-29 victory against the Raiders by the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. When Adams collided with Raiders receiver Hunter Renfrow on a fourth-down play, Las Vegas’ hope for a last-second drive that may have won the game was stopped.
Adams was leaving the pitch when a cameraman crossed before him, blocking Adams’ path to the tunnel. Adams pushed the man to the ground.
Adams tweeted an apology following the game, stating that he was angry and “felt horrible.” Adams later removed that tweet.
According to the legal case, the cameraman feared for his life due to the encounter. In addition, he claimed that a concussion had been identified as having symptoms, that he had been cyberbullied, and that he had been threatened with death. He is bringing a battery claim against Adams.
Due to the Raiders‘ employment of Adams, the guy is also suing them for damages. The complaint names the Chiefs and two other businesses for failing to provide enough protection to avert the incident.
Following the shove, Adams was charged with misdemeanor assault. That investigation is still underway. The Star reports that Adams will appear in court on June 26.
Adams was not originally penalized by the NFL, which opted to wait until the legal dispute was concluded. Depending on the outcome of the civil action and the misdemeanor accusation, Adams can still be subject to a fine or suspension from the NFL.
