Aidan O'Connell: Raiders Rookies Demonstrating Extent Of Our Progress

In the team’s victory over the Chargers on Thursday night, the Raiders‘ three offensive 2023 draft selections each had significant performances: 59 receiving yards and two touchdowns were scored by rookie wide receiver Tre Tucker, 39 yards and one touchdown were scored by rookie tight end Michael Mayer, and rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell completed his pass for 248 yards, four touchdowns, and no picks.

O’Connell stated following the game that he and the other rookies are pleased with the significant progress they have made since coming to Las Vegas.

“When I arrived here with those men, we spoke about how much has changed since we first arrived and how far we’ve gone,” O’Connell remarked. “Beginning your first year in the NFL can be extremely challenging.” It’s been amazing to be able to experience it with those men and have comparable experiences.”

Poor draft selections have been a major factor in the Raiders’ struggles in previous years. With a bright future in Las Vegas, Aidan O’Connell, Tucker, and Mayer might prove to be valuable members of a strong 2023 draft class.
