With the release of his 2015 song “White Iverson,” which honored NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson, Post Malone made his mark on the music industry. The song, now a hit, officially reached Spotify’s Billion Club after receiving over one billion listens, and the basketball legend offered the 28-year-old singer his roses in recognition of the accomplishment.
On Monday, August 14, Spotify released a video called “Billions Club: The Series Featuring Post Malone” to commemorate the historic occasion. In the video, the former Philadelphia 76ers star remarked, “Congrats on 1 billion Spotify streams.”
“The whole world loves this song, and I’m honored to be a part of it. Keep that same form, Post.”
In the footage taken at London’s O2 stadium, Malone was overjoyed as he said,
“It feels super cool that the song does connect with people, and I’m just happy to bring joy into anyone’s life when I can. It’s an amazing feeling for me, and that really gave me the confidence and courage to keep attempting to do what I love. I just appreciate all the support, and it’s the most beautiful feeling in the world. Thank you.”
“White Iverson” has several significant accomplishments to its credit. The song’s video has received over a billion views on YouTube, and the RIAA has awarded it a Diamond certification. This song by Post Malone joins “Sunflower” with Swae Lee, “Rockstar” with 21 Savage, and “Circles” as his tenth to surpass 1 billion streams.
The father of one has seven additional songs in his career that have received the Diamond certification, and he chose to release The Diamond Collection in April to honor that achievement. The album contained his huge songs “Congratulations” with Quavo, “Psycho” with Ty Dolla $ign, “Better Now,” and more.
However, the pop artist has yet to sit back and has since released his most recent album, Austin, in July. With 113,000 album-equivalent units sold in its first week, the 17-track album, which was notable for having no features, opened at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Posty’s sixth top-10 album of his career is now Austin.
