Wisconsin’s Andy Vujnovich Receives Invitation for NFL Minicamps

Andy Vujnovich is the scariest NCCA Punter

Andy Vujnovich, a punter for Wisconsin, will get a chance to play in the NFL this summer. He is known for his enormous leg, he started punting for the Badgers in the last three seasons.

In 2021, with a long of 68 yards, he averaged a career-best 46.9 yards per punt.

Vujnovich has been invited to two NFL minicamps in his quest to join a professional team. The former kicker for the Badgers has received calls from the New York Giants and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he will have a shot to join the squad.

Throwback to Andy Vujnovich

Andy Vujnovich is a former NFL offensive lineman who played for the Indianapolis Colts, Arizona Cardinals, and Buffalo Bills. He joined the Colts in 2014 as an undrafted free agent and spent most of his career in Indianapolis. 

During his time with the Colts, Vujnovich played 40 games and made 31 starts. He was waived by the team in 2018 and subsequently signed with the Cardinals and later the Bills, though he did not see any regular-season action with either group.

Season 2018:

Andy was an honoree of the American Rivers Conference. He made 43 punts during his first year, averaging 37.1 yards per punt. He made his field goal attempts and 33 of his 37 extra points. And he was named on September 23 as the American Rivers Specials Team Player of the Week.

Season 2019:

Andy is a sophomore who averaged 33.5 yards per punt and had 6 touchbacks. Additionally, he has five punts of over 50 yards. He converted 33 of his 39 extra points and two field goals.

Season 2020:

He earned his first letter by participating in all seven games, punting 34 times for 1,419 yards (41.7 average) and a long of 60 yards, making his collegiate debut on October 23. Since then, he has averaged 46.0 yards on 9 punts, including a 60-yard effort against Iowa on December 12 and 57 yards on 7 punts against Northwestern on November 21.

Season 2021:

Andy played in all 13 games, earning his second letter. He has 49 punts, with a long of 68 yards and an average length of 46.4 yards. He broke the UW single-season record for punting average, surpassing Ken DeBauche’s previous record of 44.8 by over two yards.

He has the second-best punting average in the Big Ten; 15 of their punts were at least 50 yards.

In the Las Vegas Bowl victory over Arizona State, he punted three times for an average of 55.3 yards, with 16 of his punts landing within the 20-yard line and only three going for touchbacks.

Season 2022:

With a career punting average of 44.3, Vujnovich ended his time at Wisconsin as one of the most outstanding punters in program history. He made 63 punts for 2,768 yards (43.9), with 20 total inside the 20-yard line, a single-season career record.

 To become the Wisconsin lifetime leader in punting average, he tried his 100th career punt against Illinois on October 2. He finished the game with four punts, a 53.5 average, and two inside the 20.

A career-high (10/22) by pinning Purdue inside the 20 four times during Wisconsin’s victory. He threw six punts under challenging conditions against Maryland (11/5), placing three inside the 20-yard line.
