Brock Purdy, 49ers QB, Ready For Rigors Of Regular Season
Purdy claimed that his routine and way of thinking had remained the same despite his more prominent job.
Brock Purdy, the quarterback for the 49ers, took a planned break last week after nearly six months of continuous physical treatment and a targeted program to regain his arm strength.
Seven hundred passes were the maximum that Purdy could throw weekly during training camp. The 49ers are preparing for their regular-season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, and he stated that he feels fresh despite the reduction in passes to 350 last week.
It has been excellent to see Purdy return to 100 percent or relatively close to it. His right elbow, damaged in the NFC Championship Game on January 29, required surgery to repair the ruptured ulnar collateral ligament on March 10.
On May 29, Brock Purdy started his throwing regimen with a regular NFL football. The 49ers starting position was never in doubt once he was cleared on August 25, the first day of training camp.
Purdy has known he will be the starter for months, unlike his rookie year, when he was thrown into the lineup due to injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo.
However, he claimed that his routine and way of thinking had remained the same despite his more prominent job.
After taking over as the starter last season, Purdy could move the ball around and set up his offensive playmakers, one of his strong points.
He appreciates people close to him for assisting in his preparation for the Steelers matchup and enduring the rigors of an NFL season.
“I feel like the coaches and everyone around me have a great schedule and plan laid out. And I’ve just got to trust what they’re trying to teach and show me. And then, obviously, I do what I think is necessary for myself. So (I’m) just trusting the process and not changing, but just being myself.”
