Former Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens scout Jeremiah believes the stories about Carolina head coach Frank Reich’s alleged obsession with quarterback size are unjust.

Jeremiah has often disagreed with the analytical typecasting that others have made with Reich’s preferences, given that Reich has mostly dealt with towering, physically imposing signal callers.

“I think sometimes we get hung up on (head coaches) all have a type and this is the player that they’ve had in the past — they’ve had a similar guy.”

Jeremiah stated Thursday on a call with national media.

Reich has never had a quarterback of a lesser stature.

In response, I pointed out that, for one thing, he may not have been in charge of quarterback selection, and, for another, the team never had the luxury of picking an ultra-ultra-talented tiny quarterback.

Young represents the ultimate talent to Jeremiah.

Jeremiah’s current leaderboard has Young at the top. Jeremiah’s latest mock draught has the Panthers selecting the 2021 Heisman winner with the first overall choice.

Jeremiah considers C.J. Stroud (Ohio State), Anthony Richardson (Florida), and Will Levis (Kentucky), among others, when comparing Young’s performance. For the draught analyst, the tape is king.

“You don’t find somebody like Bryce Young very frequently, where they don’t fit all the specifications yet are highly skilled. Simply said, I think he has the finest reel of everyone in this group”.

Jeremiah remarked.

The answer seemed obvious to me. Because of his precision, composure, ball placement, playmaking skills, and ability to lead his team to victory in tense situations. That is really out of the norm.

If Young’s height and weight weren’t a factor, Jeremiah says he’d have the same career projection as Joe Burrow, the first overall choice in 2020 and the quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Jeremiah said that if one were to conduct a blind taste test between one’s notes on Bryce Young and one’s notes on Joe Burrow without regard to the players’ respective sizes, the two would read nearly identically.

I believe he is a player of that mould. That’s the kind of talent I see in him. Despite his physique, you’re willing to take a chance on him. What happens, happens. It’s not perfect, but everything else about it is excellent.
