Bubble Watch Ryder Cup 2023: Wyndham Clark Officially Named in United States Team
The Ryder Cup qualification period is nearing to a finish, and there are only four berths left.
Wyndham Clark, the US Open champion, formally confirmed his berth on the US Ryder Cup team on Monday, joining world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.
That leaves only four seats available. Clark won his second Tour victory earlier this year at the US Open, propelling him up the Ryder Cup standings and into contention.
He’ll now make his squad debut at the biennial event outside of Rome later this fall. Americans have until the end of the BMW Championship to secure one of the team’s six automatic invitations.
Captain Zach Johnson will then make his six captain’s picks to fill up the 12-man team. European qualification is similar, although it only lasts until September 3.
The Wyndham Championship in North Carolina is the first of three events left before the qualification window closes. Golfers gain one point in the standings for every $1,000 they earn at each tournament.
The six golfers on the cusp are all less than 2,000 points behind the top six, so there’s plenty of room to go up throughout the final stretch.
