Caleb Williams Keeps His Cards Close To Vest
After quarterback Justin Fields was traded to the Steelers for nearly nothing, it appears like the Bears will select Caleb Williams of USC with the first overall pick in the draft. Is it Williams’s “full expectation” to be selected by Chicago as the first overall pick? NFL Network’s Steve Wyche questioned the player after his Wednesday Pro Day practice.
Williams remarked, “That’s an excellent question. My entire expectations, I wouldn’t say.” “Needless to say, within this time, things could happen or change. Numerous things could change in the roughly 33 days left till April 25. Daily steps are all you take. Take care of and manage the things within your power.”
Others claim Caleb Williams was just attempting to avoid making assumptions about his status. To maximize viewership for the first round of the 2024 draft, some would argue he doesn’t want to reveal too much, extending any possible ambiguity.
Conversely, others would argue that Williams might perhaps pull off a low-key power move to force the Bears to trade the pick or select someone else with the first pick.
Williams’s schedule of private appointments and/or workouts will be a crucial piece of evidence. Williams stated, “We’re still working out the visits. We’ll find a solution for everything quite quickly.”
Regarding Bears WR Keenan Allen‘s attendance at the Pro Day session, Williams may have unintentionally revealed information about the real situation.
“It is absurd that he is now at the Bears for a fourth-round pick, as I previously stated,” Williams remarked.
Is he “here” to be selected in the fourth round? That gives the impression that Williams sees himself as existing “here,” which is clearly and always will be Chicago.
It will be revealed on April 25. Perhaps earlier. Particularly if he solely travels to Chicago.
