Celtics Became 3rd NBA Team In History To Accomplish Feat Against Nets
After winning two straight games against the Brooklyn Nets, including a decisive 136-86 triumph at TD Garden on Wednesday, the Boston Celtics are starting the All-Star break on a positive note.
This season, the Celtics have defeated a rival team by 50 points or more twice. They beat the Indiana Pacers 155-104 on November 1st in the first instance.
With their performance on Wednesday, the Celtics really created some history. They joined the 1978–79 Milwaukee Bucks and the 1992–93 Sacramento Kings as the only NBA teams in history to record multiple 50-point victories in a single season.
With the way the Celtics are playing, it wouldn’t be remarkable to see them set a record by winning three games by 50 points or more in a season. No team has ever accomplished that feat.
With a league-best 43-12 record, the C’s lead the Eastern Conference standings by six games over the second-place Bucks. That is a rather significant edge. At the All-Star break, Boston and the Oklahoma City Thunder are the only two teams to rank in the top five in both offensive and defensive ratings.
The Celtics’ 2023–24 campaign has been fantastic thus far, but their postseason performance will be the true test of this club. All that matters is taking home Banner 18.
