Brandon Hunter, Former Celtics and Magic Player, Passes Away At 42

Former Ohio University standout Brandon Hunter passed away on Tuesday while working out in Orlando. Hunter played two NBA seasons, one with the Magic and one with the Celtics, and afterward had a successful career playing abroad.

According to Hunter’s mother-in-law, Carolyn Cliett, who spoke to NBC News, he frequently practiced hot yoga until he fell ill and died.

In addition to becoming the all-time top rebounder at Ohio University, Hunter, a native of Cincinnati, was a three-time first-team All-MAC selection. 2003 saw him take the NCAA lead in rebounds.

One of the top offensive rebounders in the NBA at the time, Hunter was selected in the second round and played 67 games for the Celtics and Magic throughout two NBA seasons.

After being chosen by the Charlotte Bobcats in the expansion draft after being unprotected and chosen by the Celtics as a rookie, Hunter was eventually moved to the Orlando Magic. Before returning to the US, Hunter played eight more seasons in Europe.

The three children and the wife of Hunter are still living. His family is in our prayers.
