Domantas Sabonis Plays With History Of Kings Rebounding In Win Over Grizzlies
At FedExForum on Sunday, the Kings defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 123-92, with Domantas Sabonis being all over the boards.
The big man from Sacramento recorded his sixth triple-double of the year in December, scoring 13 points, collecting 21 rebounds, and dishing out 12 assists. Additionally, Sabonis experimented with the record of 25 rebounds in a game set by Chris Webber in the Sacramento period.
About his performance on the glass, Domantas Sabonis stated,
“It’s a team commitment.” “I thought we did a great job blocking their shots, and it was my night to face [Bismack] Biyombo, who is a tremendously powerful man.” “We were smashing their main men, so we simply kept changing the coverage. We’ve been having trouble getting scores in the paint all year, and that’s all Coach [Mike Brown] mentioned. For us tonight, it was significant to do that.”
Memphis lost to the Kings 58-32 in the paint, while the Kings outrebounded the Grizzlies 59-34. The Kings took a sizable lead thanks to the 27 points that sixth man Malik Monk produced in 21 minutes off the bench, despite De’Aaron Fox‘s 24 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
Born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, 71 miles northwest, Monk was delighted to entertain his loved ones, who were present in person and spirit.
Monk told Kyle Draper and Matt Barnes on “Kings Postgame Live,” “It feels like I haven’t played in a room with many of these guys in a minute, and I had the opportunity to put on a show for them. Fortunately, the shots went in.”
Sacramento concluded a 2-1 road trip with victories over the Grizzlies on Sunday and the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, following a discouraging defeat to the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday.
The Charlotte Hornets will host the Kings at Golden 1 Center on Tuesday when they return home.
