Zach Wilson is going to have a new home this NFL season as the New York Jets are set to trade him to the Denver Broncos for a 2024 late-round pick swap.

According to NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the New York Jets will get a sixth-round pick (No.203), while the Denver will get Wilson and a seventh-round pick (No.256) in exchange.

The development not only finds Wilson a new home but also settles the months-long trade rumours fueled by his subpar performances.

The former BYU standout was drafted second overall in 2021 and was touted to be the best QB. However, never got going and struggled mightily under the Big Apple spotlight.

This led the New York Jets to look for alternate options. They eventually roped in Aaron Rodgers in 2023 in a blockbuster deal, leaving Wilson’s future murky.

Rodgers’ early-season injury pushed Wilson into the starting role, but he never really got going. They limped to a 4-7 record with Wilson guarding the center, propelling them to look for a change.

Meanwhile, the situation for Bronco is not any different. After their split with Russell Wilson, Denver desperately needed a top-tier quarterback – a perfect fit for Zach Wilson.

This move offers Wilson a chance to start afresh and live up to the expectations. He’ll compete for the starting job in Denver, a team with an open quarterback competition following the Wilson divorce.

With the draft looming, all eyes are on the Broncos’ front office. Will Payton and GM George Paton be satisfied with Wilson, or will they use their draft capital to further address the quarterback position?

One thing’s for sure: after a tumultuous three years in New York, Zach Wilson finally gets a chance to rewrite his NFL narrative in Denver.
