Hendon Hooker is a QB3 for “Plenty of Teams”; Which One To

Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker may join Young, Stroud, Richardson, and Levis in the starting lineup on opening night. James Palmer of NFL Network says Hooker might go higher than Richardson or Levis.

Inquiring minds want to know, “You want to hear what teams think of Hendon Hooker?” Palmer stated on the Cut to It podcast hosted by Steve Smith Sr. Many clubs value him higher than the two players you named at the bottom of the roster (Anthony Richardson and Will Levis).

Many squads have him ranked third, just behind first- and second-stringers Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud.

Hooker might go in the first round because of the fifth-year option, and there are a few clubs who like him more than Levis and/or Richardson.

Although “plenty” of clubs apparently believe Hooker should be the third quarterback selected.

We’re talking about a promising 25-year-old who recently underwent ACL surgery and may not play again this year.

Both Levis and Richardson are far from perfect prospects, but Richardson possesses an extremely unusual combination of size (6’4″, 244 pounds), speed (4.43 seconds in the 40 yards), and arm skill, while Levis has experience in a pro-style scheme.

Hooker doesn’t stand out for any particular reason, and he didn’t get much playing time as a quarterback in college.

“Hooker will have to adjust greatly to a real passing offense,” Derrik Klasen of Bleacher Report’s Scouting Department said. “In addition, Hooker’s accuracy often declines outside of 5-15 yard in-breaking routes,” the article continues.

As a potential NFL starter, Hooker possesses a potent mix of timing, anticipation, movement, and pocket presence.

While some teams may be tryin0g to hide their true intentions, others may be trying to get other teams to bite on Hooker so that they may draft Levis or Richardson.

Alan Hendon Hooker

American football quarterback Alan Hendon Hooker was born on January 13, 1998. Before moving to Tennessee in 2021, he played collegiate football for Virginia Tech, where he was honored as the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2022.

Hooker went to high school at Greensboro, North Carolina’s James B. Dudley. He threw for 6,027 yards and 55 touchdowns while also running for 2,975 yards and 48 scores throughout his high school career.

When his career was up, he was Dudley’s all-time passing leader, he had been chosen to the Associated Press All-State team twice, and he had been voted NC Preps’ All-State Player of the Year.

Dudley won two state titles under his direction, and in 2016, Hooker scored six touchdowns and was named the game’s most valuable player.

He was a three-time All-Metro pick in basketball and scored over 1,000 points for his high school’s basketball team while simultaneously playing football.

Hooker, who completed his high school career at Dudley, was a three-star quarterback by Rivals.com and a four-star prospect by 247Sports.
