During the 2023 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears looked to the Senior Bowl for a few new players.

From the Senior Bowl participants this year, the Bears selected four players and signed one undrafted rookie.

The players in question were:

  • Undrafted quarterback Tyson Agent
  • Second-round cornerback Tyrique Stevenson
  • Third-round defensive lineman Zacch Pickens
  • Fourth-round running back Roschon Johnson
  • First-round offensive tackle Darnell Wright

It is hardly surprising that over half of their initial choices competed at the Senior Bowl, as offensive coordinator Luke Getsy also served as the American team’s head coach.

Chicago benefited greatly from Getsy’s tenure as head coach since he had the opportunity to form bonds with those players, notably Wright, the 10th overall pick.

“It’s like a full circle moment.” “… I already have a relationship with that guy.”

Getsy’s statement after Wright was drafted

Only seven other NFL clubs selected more Senior Bowl participants, including the Colts, Rams, Packers, Raiders, Patriots, 49ers, and Buccaneers.
