Jake Cronenworth Sign $80 Mln Agreement With Padres for 2024-30
The San Diego Padres and two-time All-Star infielder Jake Cronenworth reached an $80 million, seven-year deal on Saturday that will run from 2024 through 2030.
After the 2025 season, Cronenworth would have been available for free agency. He and the Padres agreed to a one-year pact in January for $4,225,000.
He receives a $2 million signing bonus, $7 million the following season, $11 million in 2025, and $12 million over the next four seasons. Cronenworth is granted a restricted no-trade clause except for eight organizations he has listed.
Ha-Seong Kim was moved from shortstop to second base by the Padres when they signed All-Star shortstop Xander Bogaerts to a $280 million, 11-year contract.
In contrast, Cronenworth, who had spent the previous three seasons primarily at second base, was transferred to first base this season.
