He is back. Yes, Joe Burrow, the winning star has returned. Joe Burrow, the Bengals’ quarterback, has returned to practice after missing more than a month due to a calf strain.
Joe Burrow appears to be on pace to start for the Bengals against the Browns in their season opener.
The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback officially returned to practise on Tuesday, nearly a month after suffering a calf strain.
Though the organisation has yet to remark on Burrow’s status, the team has apparently believed for weeks that Burrow will be ready for their season opener against the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 10. Tuesday’s practice appearance only adds to that.
Burrow’s Life On the Pitch
Burrow had his initial calf injury on 27 July following a training camp practice. He was scrambling to the right side of the field when he abruptly stopped and began hopping on his left leg. Burrow eventually collapsed and had to be taken off the pitch.
At the time, the team said only that Burrow would be sidelined for “several weeks.” He didn’t participate in the preseason, but he was spotted jogging and throwing regularly in the days leading up to the games and on the sidelines.
“I think he has a very healthy body,” Bengals coach Zac Taylor told ESPN on Tuesday. “And I’m encouraged by that.”
Taylor was also asked about Burrow’s extended absence on Tuesday, and he denied that Burrow was sitting out owing to a contract extension.
This year, the Ames, Iowa, native and former LSU star enters the fourth year of his first four-year, $36 million contract with the Bengals.
He’s also the final prominent quarterback eligible for a contract deal this summer. Last month, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert agreed to a five-year, $262 million contract extension.
Burrow passed for 4,475 yards and 35 touchdowns against 12 interceptions last season. Since entering the league, he has completed more than 68% of his throws, and in 2021, he led the NFL in both completion percentage and yards per attempt.
Under his guidance, the Bengals have twice reached the AFC championship game and will play in the Super Bowl in 2021.
So, despite the fact that it took almost a month to get him back out there, Burrow appears to be ready to go ahead of the season.
