The Lakers signed Gabe Vincent, Taurean Prince, and Cam Reddish on the first day of free agency. In addition, they signed Rui Hachimura to a rich three-year, $51 million contract, assuring his continued participation in the Lakers’ organization.
The Lakers kept pursuing talent aggressively as the second day progressed. With a fantastic four-year, $56 million Early Bird top deal, they secured Austin Reaves and finished the job.
With a two-year, $37 million contract, they also succeeded in keeping D’Angelo Russell with the Lakers. The team’s efforts didn’t end there; they also signed Jaxson Hayes, a former member of the New Orleans Pelicans, to a two-year contract.
After learning about their signings on his Instagram Story, LeBron James celebrated the Lakers’ success in the free agent market. Reaves, D’Lo, Hachimura, Vincent, Prince, Reddish, and Hayes were all warmly welcomed into the Lakers family by James without him saying a word. James also tweeted images of them. The public regarded the Lakers’ talisman’s action as a strong endorsement.
Moves made by the Lakers to their roster give them hope for victory
The Laker’s executive management deserves high recognition for their clever actions in boosting the roster. The departure of Dennis Schroder, who joined the Toronto Raptors, creates a vacuum, but the additions of Vincent, Prince, and Hayes unquestionably raise the team’s overall talent level.
The new roster’s ability to immediately gel and repeat the late-season success of the 2022–23 campaign will, of course, be the actual test. But there are many reasons for Lakers supporters to feel upbeat about their chances of winning a championship. The Lakers look prepared to rule the competition next season with LeBron James at the helm.
