Not only could Rodgers be traded over draft weekend, but so could a number of other noteworthy players. Albert Breer of the MMQB reports that the Cardinals have given wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins permission to negotiate a trade with other clubs.

Hopkins might sign with the Baltimore Ravens, according to reports that surfaced on the Pat McAfee Show.

The probability is high, as Pacman Jones put it.

A trip to Baltimore by Hopkins is possible, maybe in an effort to persuade Lamar Jackson to sign his franchise-tag tender, but it seems far from certain.

Baltimore recently signed wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to a one-year, $15 million contract with a guaranteed $13.8 million.

Jackson was undoubtedly enticed by the Ravens with that play. Second, Hopkins’ basic salary is $19.5 million, whereas the Ravens only have $3.9 million in cap space (after Jackson’s tag).

For the Ravens to seriously explore a trade for Hopkins at this time, one or both of the following would need to occur: a) Baltimore fails to pick a great receiver, or b) Arizona agrees to eat a significant chunk of Hopkins’ money. It is said that the latter is quite unlikely.

Fowler remarked on SportsCenter, “Teams I’ve talked to believe the Cardinals haven’t really been willing to pay the salary.”

After the draft, or if he becomes available, Hopkins might be pursued by Baltimore.

It appears more likely that the Cardinals are trying to create a trade market or that Baltimore is trying to convince Jackson, invisibly, that it is serious about improving its receiving corps.

Hopkins was invited to the NFL combine as a top prospect straight out of Clemson. He was able to do almost all of the combine drills save the three-cone because of a calf injury.

He went to Clemson’s pro day on March 7th, 2013. Hopkins worked out privately or visited the Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, and St. Louis Rams a total of eight times.

Experts and scouts in the NFL draft consensused that Hopkins would be selected in the first or second round. NFL draft analyst Josh Norris ranked him as the third-best wide receiver prospect in the draft, Sports Illustrated ranked him as the fourth best.
