Luka Doncic On Pace To Earn $70 Million, In NBA History
With the Dallas Mavericks, Luka Doncic, 24, is eligible for a five-season, $318 million deal.
According to ESPN, Luka Doncic, 24, is on pace to receive the first supermax contract for 70 million dollars in NBA history as compensation for the remarkable development he has demonstrated over the past several years.
According to Bobby Marks, Doncic is expected to agree to a five-year mega contract worth $318 million.
In the US, it is noted that Luka Doncic had accomplishments like being the only player besides LeBron James to reach 9,000 points and 2,500 assists before the age of 25 and being a four-time member of the NBA Ideal Five (2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023) before the age of 25 (only Kevin Durant, Tim Duncan, and Max Zaslofsky had done so).
Doncic has only been in the NBA for six years, so in theory, he couldn’t sign a contract extension, but the former Real Madrid player has an exemption.
Doncic would be entitled to sign a contract extension in 2025 that would take effect for the 2026–27 season if he were chosen as one of the “NBA’s Ideal Five” players, as he would have met the requirement of being named “All-NBA” in two of the three seasons immediately prior.
According to the US network, Doncic’s contract extension would be worth 367.5 million dollars, and his final year of employment would be worth 83.6 million dollars, assuming the wage ceiling grows by 10% over the following three years.
In the NBA, Doncic averaged 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8 assists per game in his last year.
