Luka Doncic On Pace To Earn $70 Million, In NBA History

Some of the NBA‘s foreign players are overseas with their national teams at the FIBA World Cup while the league is on break.

The potential for injury is present, even though summer basketball may help a player stay sharp before the start of the new NBA season.

Luka Doncic exited Slovenia’s match against Greece early, and it looks like this is precisely what happened to him.

What exactly was wrong with Luka Doncic?

In Friday’s World Cup warm-up game against Greece, Doncic seemed to sustain damage to his knee following a straight collision with an opponent.

In the contested play, Doncic was guarding a ballhandler in a pick-and-roll scenario, but as he tried to go past his opponent, there was a massive knee-to-knee collision.

As he winced and abandoned the action, Luka Doncic made it obvious that he was in agony. In an intelligent move, Slovenia took advantage of this to request a timeout to remove the Dallas Mavericks star from the game and off the court.

What kind of harm has Luka Doncic sustained?

Fortunately, Luka Doncic’s injury was more of an impact hit than anything more serious, which is good news for Slovenia and the Mavericks.

According to Tim MacMahon, a sideline reporter for the game, there doesn’t seem to be any significant injury to the knee.

MacMahon posted on Twitter, “No concerns, source tells ESPN after Luka Doncic banged knees during Slovenia’s exhibition loss to Greece today. Doncic exited early as a precaution.”

Dallas supporters would cover their eyes while watching the World Cup because they knew that any catastrophic injury to Doncic would kill their 2023 season.

Although the Mavericks signed Kyrie Irving before the trade deadline, they are aware that they need their team’s leader to guide them into the playoffs.

The Dallas Mavericks are banking on Doncic and Kyrie to deliver one of the league’s best one-two punches, but that can only happen if Doncic stays healthy.
