My Goal to Play For New York Jets, Green Bay Packers Departure “Only Matter of Time”: Claims Aaron Rodgers

The quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers, claims: “I made it plain that my objective was to play for the New York Jets,” and “Because I still have that fire and I want to play in New York, now, completing it is the only thing left to do”.

The 39-year-old Rodgers acknowledged, following a flurry of rumors, that he would probably soon be a Jets player during a segment on Pat McAfee’s podcast on Wednesday.

He claimed that the New York Jets were the team Rodgers intended to play for. At this moment, as I sit here, I believe, since Friday, I made it plain that my objective was to play,” Rodgers said. Since the Packers are attempting to obtain compensation, I haven’t been keeping anything back.

“The Packers would like to move on; they have let me know that in so many words and have let other people know that in direct words.”

A parody of Leonardo DiCaprio’s character from the movie “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” sporting a Jets cap was posted by the New York Jets’ Twitter account shortly after Rodgers’ comments.

As he went away for four days to think about his future, Rodgers said he was 90% certain he was retiring.

The quarterback continued by expressing his perception of a shift in the Packers’ attitude towards him and his desire that the organization had been more forthright with him at the start of the offseason.

According to reports, Rodgers sent the Jets a list of free agents he’d like them to target and sign.

Rodgers wants the Jets to focus on wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Green Bay Packers wide receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb, and tight end Marcedes Lewis.

As per The Score and NFL Network, a four-year, $44 million contract with Lazard was the first item on the Jets’ must-do list on Tuesday afternoon.
