NFL Training Camp Tracker: Bears Extends TE Cole Kmet Four-Year, $50 Million Contract

Few predicted that Cole Kmet of the Chicago Bears would be a top-10 paid tight end in 2023. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Kmet has agreed to a four-year, $50 million agreement.

It comes with a $32.8 million guarantee. According to Over The Cap, Kmet’s $12.5 million average yearly compensation ranks ninth in the NFL at his position, trailing only New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry.

Over the last two seasons, Kmet has emerged as one of Justin Fields’ most dependable targets. Since 2021, he has caught 110 catches for 1,156 passing yards and has seven touchdown receptions.

This offseason, the Bears added wideout D.J. Moore to their pass-catching corps, joining Kmet and fellow receivers Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool.

As NFL training camps begin, there is no shortage of interesting storylines. One of them is already creating a name for himself at Jacksonville Jaguars training camp.

Calvin Ridley, who was acquired by the team last year while serving a season-long ban for gambling, has reportedly looked the part of the No. 1 receiver he was in Atlanta.

If Ridley can regain his Pro Bowl form from 2020, it will be a significant improvement for third-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars, who are the defending AFC South winners.

In the following weeks, NFL team of Charles Robinson, Jori Epstein, and Charles McDonald will be dispersed across the country to cover everything.
