No Tailor Can Do What Taylor Swift Has Swiftly Done With Travis Kelce Jersey
Chiefs’ TV ratings go up and Travis Kelce’s jersey sales go up 400% thanks to Taylor Swift.
Tight End for the Kansas City Chiefs In 2022, Travis Kelce’s jersey didn’t even make the top 10, but thanks to Taylor Swift, he may have already won the NFL sales title for the entire 2023 season after only three weeks.
Sales of Kelce’s jersey skyrocketed on Sunday, a representative for gear manufacturer Fanatics told the Associated Press, increasing by “nearly 400% across the Fanatics network of sites, including NFLShop.com.”
Kelce played well in a 41-10 thrashing of the Chicago Bears, catching seven passes for 69 yards and a touchdown. Twelve-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift sat in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium with his mother, Donna, and a camera caught her multiple reaction pictures, which likely contributed to the sales increase.
Kelce did not address the press after the game, but he was seen leaving the stadium in a convertible with Swift.
After months of courting, rumours of a romance between Kelce and Swift finally came to a head last week when Kelce admitted on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he had extended the invitation to Swift for dinner.
“I gave her the initiative by telling her, ‘I’ve seen you slay the stage in Arrowhead. To determine whether one is “a little more lit,” Kelce suggested that people come see him perform in Arrowhead.
Even notorious grouch Bill Belichick weighed in on the potential romance, such is the fervour around the love tale in the NFL.
An increase in viewers is also seen on television.
The success of Taylor Swift’s concert wasn’t limited to the sale of her jerseys. On Tuesday, FOX Sports said that 24.3 million people tuned in to see Sunday’s Chiefs-Bears game, making it the highest-rated programme of the week across all networks.
The effect Taylor Swift had on the female demographic in terms of tuning in to what became a very one-sided football game (the score was 34-0 at halftime in several markets) was striking.
