Nyheim Hines Will Miss 2023 Season After Suffering Knee Injury On Jet Ski
Pelissero claims that Hines suffered injuries in a Jet Ski accident when another rider slammed into the Jet Ski he was seated on that was stopped.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Buffalo Bills running back Nyheim Hines will likely miss the 2023 season due to a “significant” knee injury. Unknown at this time is the nature of the knee injury.
Pelissero claims that Hines suffered injuries in a Jet Ski accident when another rider slammed into the Jet Ski he was seated on that was stopped.
For Hines, age 26, this is a cruel turn of events. He accepted a wage reduction when the Bills adjusted his deal so that he would stay in Buffalo after being moved from the Indianapolis Colts to the Bills during the previous season.
James Cook, Damien Harris, and Latavius Murray fill the Bills’ running back positions in Hines’ absence. Hines fills a crucial role as a third-down pass catcher, but his absence creates a more significant gap. Additionally, he was anticipated to serve as the Bills’ primary kick and punt returner, a position he successfully filled the previous season, particularly in Week 18, when he returned two kickoffs for scores.
For Bills players, staff, and supporters, the first return of Week 18 had a particular significance. Nyheim Hines returned the opening kickoff for a score in the first game since Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field. It erupted into an earth-shattering frenzy at Highmark Stadium.
Deonte Harty, Khalil Shakir, and Micah Hyde are among the internal alternatives, according to NFL.com‘s Kevin Patra, to take Hines’ role on special teams.
