Over The Moniker “Superman,” Shaq & Howard Had A Falling Out
Dwight Howard, who was expected to succeed Shaquille O’Neal when he initially entered the NBA but ultimately disappointed, has never received the NBA legend’s endorsement. They’ve been linked since both big players began their professional careers with the Orlando Magic.
When criticizing athletes, O’Neal, 51, never holds back, and the issue with Howard included the moniker “Superman.”
Shaq did not appreciate it when Howard, then 37, started referring to himself as “Superman,” even declaring years later that Giannis Antetokounmpo is the only player who merits the title.
Howard declared he is prepared to “squash” the “beef” with O’Neal during an interview on Run It Back with Michelle Beadle. O’Neal has yet to respond.
“For years, I said it: I don’t have any beef with Shaq.”
“I want everybody to enjoy life; I have no beef with anyone. The ‘me and Shaq’ thing, I don’t know what it is. If we gotta go to dinner, if we gotta come on this show and have a discussion – whatever it is. We gettin’ old, man. Let’s squash whatever beef we got, whatever it is, and just keep it pushing.” Howard said.
Tour of Apology by Shaq
Due to his constant pranks and loud voice, Shaq is frequently called a terrible teammate and has a habit of getting into trouble.
In a recent interview, he expressed regret for how he had been when they first met Los Angeles Lakers star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Due to O’Neal’s father essentially dismissing his advice when Shaq initially joined the Lakers, Abdul-Jabbar, 76, felt alienated.
Years ago, Shaq apologized to Kobe Bryant during a similar interview. It may be time he joined Howard at the table and followed suit.
