Patriots Bailey Zappe Excited About 2024 Quarterback Battle
Whether head coach Bill Belichick will be back for a 25th season with the Patriots is the first of many unanswered issues in New England after their Week 18 matchup with the Jets.
One of the other main questions once that’s understood will be the quarterback’s future. Regardless of what happens on Sunday, they will choose early in the first round, and there will be a lot of pressure to select a player who can secure the spot with that choice, regardless of the coach.
Bailey Zappe, the team’s current starter, was questioned about the likelihood of a highly-touted youngster joining the team on WEEI on Tuesday.
“If that’s what they select to do, then that’s what they select to do. I am excited to go off against anyone who shows up for that position. I’ll prepare myself to be the person, and, should my name be called, I’ll do all in my power to help the club win. This offseason, I’ll follow a similar plan.”

It’s unclear if Zappe will get an opportunity to compete for the position or if the Patriots will be parting ways with the group that helped the team produce its lowest record since the 2000 campaign.
