PGA Tour 2024 Schedule Includes No-Cut Events at Eight Tournaments

The PGA Tour’s new schedule apparently features a number of no-cut events, which is a big departure from the Tour’s past.

The influence of LIV Golf on the PGA Tour’s operations is still being felt. According to Golfweek, eight of the 12 “designated” events — high-purse tournaments whose enhanced payouts were already influenced by LIV’s enormous payments — will no longer have cuts, much like their LIV counterparts.

The four events that retain cuts are four of the Tour’s most prestigious: the Players Championship, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Jack Nicklaus Memorial, and the Tiger Woods Genesis Invitational.

Aside from The Players, those events will be limited-field tournaments with a field of 80 players that will be reduced to 50.

All other tournaments will be four-day, no-cut affairs with guaranteed payouts for players and guaranteed player appearances for broadcasters and sponsors throughout the tournament.

Overall, the schedule will revert to the calendar year for the first time in a decade, with 39 regular-season tournaments and 8 post-playoff fall events, according to Golfweek.

Several events will have new dates, most notably the Memorial, which will be held one week before the U.S. Open rather than two weeks before.

The 2024 Olympics, which will be held in late July and early August in Paris, will push the season’s final events, including the FedEx Cup playoffs, ahead a week.

The Tour Championship will conclude the season on September 1. Fall events will allow players who do not make the playoffs to position themselves better for the 2025 season.

The official schedule will be released on August 8.
