Roger Goodell Would Extend His Current Agreement, Until 2027
Jim Irsay, an owner of the Indianapolis Colts, stated that everyone is ready to extend the term of Commissioner Roger Goodell until 2027, as the NFL owners are in Minnesota for the league’s regular spring meeting.
Irsay said that, as stated through ESPN, there needs to be more solidity; when questioned about the likelihood of a new deal with the league, Goodell responded,
“It’s not being extended today, that’s for sure.” “I love my job, and I have no doubt that both parties will be able to complete the deal.”
Adam Schefter, an NFL analyst for ESPN, stated in March that a multi-year extension between the league and Goodell was anticipated because the latter’s contract, which has been in place since 2006, ends in 2024.
The 64-year-old Goodell said he has spoken with officials and club owners about splitting his responsibilities into two significant positions, one serving as CEO and the other managing more on-field issues.
“It’s a healthy discussion we need to have. The job changes over the years.”
“It has changed since I became commissioner. I know we will talk about that issue at the appropriate time.”
