Sergio Brown, a former NFL player, has vanished not long after his mother’s body was discovered in a stream in what seemed to be a murder.
On Saturday, family members reported both missing after being unable to contact either family member, according to information provided to Illinois authorities. Brown was 73 years old when he was born, and his mother, Myrtle, was 35.
According to WGN-TV, Myrtle’s corpse was found during the search for the two in a stream close to her home, but Sergio has not been located.
The sister of Myrtle Brown talks about her demise.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office declared her death to be murder on Sunday. Officials claimed that she passed away from many wounds related to an attack.
In the days after the corpse was discovered, her sister spoke with WGN-TV. To the station, Sheila Simmons said, “We’re going to find out what happened because it’s not normal for my sister to not answer her phone or respond to text messages. People have been reaching out to her since Friday. No one was able to reach her. Now, I got the call this morning saying that she’s missing, so immediately I came out here and found out my sister is dead.”
Sergio’s brother, Nick Brown, reportedly pleaded with him to return home in a Facebook post. Nick Brown wrote, “Please come home. I want him to know how much I love him.”
