Steve Kerr Mocks Lakers’ Reaves’ Playoff Defeat
Steve Kerr remembers that Reaves played a vital role in the victory over the reigning NBA champs.
In the Western Conference semifinals of the previous year, the Warriors’ defeat by the Los Angeles Lakers left Steve Kerr still grieving.
Austin Reaves, a guard with the Los Angeles Lakers, is a member of Kerr’s team as they compete in the FIBA Basketball World Cup this summer.
Two months after his Lakers defeated Kerr’s Warriors in a six-game playoff series, Reaves took part in a recent Q&A with Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times, discussing one of his first encounters with his new coach.
Reaves said, “Steve, basically, the first conversation we had was him being like, ‘You know, I’m still not really over what you and y’all did to us this postseason.” “‘But I’d much rather be coaching you than coaching against you.'”
Reaves played against the Warriors in that series and averaged 14.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game, shooting 41.8 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range.
Steve Kerr remembers that Reaves played a vital role in the victory over the reigning NBA champs.
To help Team USA win the Naismith Trophy, the two have now teamed up in the international competition.
