T.J Watt Voted For 4th Time By Steelers Players As Team MVP
T.J Watt, an outside linebacker for the Steelers, has been selected as Pittsburgh’s Most Valuable Player for the fourth consecutive season by his peers. In 2019, 2020, and 2021, he also took home the honor.
Despite having a large number of Hall of Famers on their roster, none of the Steelers’ greatest players have ever won the team MVP award four times: Rod Woodson and Jerome Bettis each won it three times; Terry Bradshaw, John Stallworth, Jack Lambert, and Franco Harris each won it once. Before Watt, Antonio Brown was the only other Steeler to win it four times. It has taken the Steelers 55 years to select a team MVP.
As reported by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, T.J Watt stated,
“It’s really satisfying anytime my peers know how much effort I’m making and express their admiration for it. To be respected by the individuals you work with every day is all that matters in the end. In order to support this squad in any way I can, I’m just always working to improve both on and off the pitch and as a leader.”
Currently tied for the league lead in sacks with 17, Watt is one game away from winning the season.
