The Bulls’ Re-Signing Movements Has Become Doubtful
Dosunmu returned after several weeks of uncertainty and stories suggesting he may depart the Bulls in free agency. The Bulls may now have few options for acquiring new players.
Ayo Dosunmu was recently re-signed by the Chicago Bulls to a three-year, $21 million deal to play for the team in 2019. Dosunmu returned after several weeks of uncertainty and stories suggesting he may depart the Bulls in free agency. The Bulls may now have few options for acquiring new players.
As it stands, the Chicago Bulls’ roster is nearly complete. Adama Sanogo, Justin Lewis, and Onrulap Bitim grabbed one of their three two-way spots, leaving only one open spot on the regular roster.
According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, even if they have a $10.2 million DPE due to Lonzo Ball‘s injury, it appears doubtful that they would use it or add much more compensation to the roster.
Smith concluded that more transactions are improbable after considering Chicago’s financial history and the effects of adding to the present squad.
“After re-signing Ayo Dosunmu, the Chicago Bulls are only ~$1.8M under the luxury tax. They could get to ~$3.7M under.”
“In their history, CHI has only paid the tax twice, for a total of just over $8M.”
“Hard to believe they’ll go deep into the tax to add more guys this offseason.”
Keith Smith Tweeted.
Teams are contemplating their financial positions more than ever now that the new CBA has been introduced.
The Bulls made a wise decision by keeping Dosunmu, but it now appears they have reached the end of their significant summer roster alterations.
