The Giants to Evaluate Punt Returner Jalin Hyatt
Due to their substantial wide receiver depth, the New York Giants will only need a few of their wide receivers to participate on special teams in 2023. Jalin Hyatt, a third-round pick as a rookie, is among them.
There are only so many roster places available, despite the quick skepticism of some in the wake of Adoree Jackson’s knee injury last season. The Giants must also contribute elsewhere if they finish with seven wide outs on their 53-man roster.
There is a vacancy at punt returner now that Richie James Jr. has relocated to Kansas City.
“We’ve got a lot of guys on the roster that can field punts. We’ll see how that goes.”
Head coach Brian Daboll
Step forward; Hyatt is the perfect candidate due to his quickness and cunning.
“Yeah, absolutely.” “We’ll put as many guys back there as we can to figure that one out. But again, it’s a ways away.”
When asked whether Hyatt could get a look at punt returner, Brian Daboll responded.
Although Hyatt only had a few special teams’ experiences at Tennessee, the Giants can improve this summer. For special teams’ coordinator Thomas McGaughey, who had trouble finding players last season, the versatility would be a welcome sight.
Although there is no assurance Hyatt will ultimately land the job, it is not a mistake for the Giants to at least give it some thought.
