The Jacksonville Jaguars picked Yasir Abdullah of Louisville as the first choice in Round 5 of the 2023 NFL Draft.

During his five years with the Cardinals, Abdullah made 209 total tackles, 43 tackles for a loss, 23.5 sacks, and 8 forced fumbles.

With 9.5 sacks in the 2022 season, Abdullah topped the ACC. He led Louisville’s defense last season, earning a spot on the first-team All-Conference team.

The Jaguars’ pass rush might benefit from this selection because Abdullah will probably fall behind Josh Allen and Travon Walker in line.

Abdullah hails from Miami-Carol City, where he was the 6A state champion and a four-star recruit out of high school.

The Jaguars added to the players they picked on the first two days of the draft by selecting defensive end Tyler Lacy (No. 130) and linebacker Ventrell Miller (No. 121) earlier in the day.

The Saints and the club exchanged the team’s second-round selection in the fourth round for the Saints‘ 227th pick in the 2023 draft and a fourth-round pick in 2024.
