Two names immediately stood out to me as I perused the list of seasoned free agents still available. Both of them are ex-Cleveland Browns who are currently available for a low price.

Protection John Johnson III comes first. Johnson, who is 27 years old, just finished his third season with 100+ tackles. According to many analysts, Johnson ranked among the top safeties in the AFC just two years ago. While Johnson is an improvement, Pittsburgh signed Keanu Neal in free agency.

Kareem Hunt, a running back, comes in second. The Pittsburgh Steelers know Hunt’s ability to run the ball and his willingness to play in a backfield by committee. Hunt was Kansas City’s starting running back and was the league’s top rusher as a rookie. He also has young legs because he is only 27 years old and has only carried 895 pounds in the past six years.

Again, this is about increasing depth without spending a lot of money. Neither position is a priority. An attrition-based conflict is the NFL regular season. Particularly at running back, there always needs to be more starter-caliber talent.
