The Titans Plan New $2.1 Billion Stadium With Projected Debut In 2027
The Tennessee Titans have unveiled initial blueprints for Nashville’s proposed $2.1 billion multi-use stadium.
Plans for the Tennessee Titans‘ new stadium, expected to open in time for the 2027 season and cost $2.1 billion, have been released. To draw Super Bowls, Final Fours, College Football Playoffs, and other high-profile events, the 62,000-seat stadium will include a transparent dome.
Through a social media hype video, the Titans revealed the stadium details:
With at least $1.26 billion in public investment, the mayor of Nashville approved the stadium proposal in April. This surpasses Buffalo’s previous approval of $850 million for a new Bills stadium as the most significant public subsidy for a stadium in the United States. The Titans will play in Nissan Stadium until the new, as of yet unnamed, venue is completed, with construction set to start after the 2023 season.
Although the stadium’s seating capacity is less than Nissan Stadium’s 69,000, supporters claim that even the furthest seats will have far better sightlines than they do now. The stadium will also have artificial turf.
Near the location of the Titans’ existing Nissan Stadium home, the stadium will be on the east side of the Cumberland River. In contrast to the current Nissan Stadium parking, the new stadium would be situated back from the riverbank. According to supporters, this will allow for additional development of the riverfront parks.
According to the plan, football income, a 1 percent sales tax on tourism, and a one-time state grant would be the primary funding sources for the new stadium lease moving forward. Much of the current lease, including the maintenance of Nissan Stadium, is funded by the city of Nashville.
