Timberwolves Drop Game 5 to Nuggets As Mike Conley Misses Out With Injury

Minnesota Timberwolves experienced another setback as they lost Game 5 of the second-round playoff series 112-97 after their guard Mike Conley was ruled out of the Game 5.

Conley suffered an Achilles injury during the final moments of Game 4 and his team lost 115-107 after a close fight.  The second-round series was tied 2-2.

Before his injury, Conley averaged 11.3 points and 7 assists over 31.8 minutes in Minnesota’s playoff run this season.

However, his absence affected the team balance on Tuesday night’s game as the Nuggets edged past the Timberwolves to lead the series.

In another thrilling encounter, the Nuggets registered another close-margin (112-97) victory to lead the second-round series 3-2.

By the first half, the Timberwolves were trailing by 6 points, then they went on an 11-3 run to get a two-point advantage early in the third frame. Timberwolves looked to build on this advantage, but Nikola Jokic had other plans.

At a point when the game was tied 55-all, the Nuggets scored four consecutive buckets to take a lead. Jokic assisted each time.

He then showed his scoring skills, finishing the third quarter with 16 points on his own, four assists and three rebounds – helping the Nuggets take a 14-point lead.
