Tom Brady "certain" His Time in NFL Up, Should Probably Separate Ways Now - the image is a screen grab.

Brady closed the door, so to speak, on his media tour with Sports Illustrated Now, the first stop on his trip to promote an ad campaign with Hertz.

Tom Brady has declared victory. Even more so than when he was double-dutching with his pal Jim Grey or fielding questions at some random entrepreneur’s conference, his statements on Thursday were crystal clear.

When asked if he had anything to say to the many who have speculated about his possible comeback to the NFL, Brady’s reaction was short and to the point.

He then declared, “I’m certain I’m not playing again.” I’ve already told a lot of people that, so I don’t want to keep repeating myself when I say that. Take note of the phrase “certain.”

This statement appeared to be quite conclusive. Either he is not as sure as he claims to be right now, or he will participate in another NFL game after this one.

What about both? Absolutely. Brady has said on the record that he has lied to the media in the past. And his earlier retirement in the 2022-23 offseason proved that he is capable of reversing his decision.

However, the mere fact that either is feasible does not mean that he is actively courting a comeback.

Brady could have done this on Thursday by making a less firm declaration that he would not participate. Instead, he went the other way, making the proclamation and then discussing his plans to spend time with his children before joining Fox Sports as an NFL analyst in 2024 and, in the coming months, trying to get a minority ownership in the Las Vegas Raiders.
It’s plausible, given that he’s been spending his offseason on yachts rather than in football facilities. In August, he’ll turn 46 years old.

He is not hanging out with the Raiders’ receivers. There have been no last-minute throwing workouts at an undisclosed gym.

In addition, a league source confirmed to Yahoo Sports on Wednesday night that Brady’s retirement papers would not be reversed. He has made no effort at all to hide the fact that he is now officially retired. Even going so far as to express his personal conviction in the matter on Thursday.

Now that that’s out of the way, the rest of us may proceed. Since Brady appears to have realised this at last. In fact, his backing for presumptive starter Jimmy Garoppolo was evident in a Thursday interview with Yahoo Sports’ Jori Epstein, in which he was asked about his familiarity with the Raiders’ offence.

“I was part of Josh’s system for a very long time, and he and I have an incredible working relationship,” Brady added. And Jimmy and I are really close friends. After knowing him for nine years, I can say that he is a gifted individual. Therefore, I have always rooted for him and will continue to do so.

There has been talk that Brady, already a minority owner of the Raiders, might become the team’s starting quarterback if Garoppolo were to be hurt. After having foot surgery in March, Garoppolo has yet to participate in any team drills or practises.

Garoppolo may not get to work with the Raiders until training camp in July, as the whole squad minicamp is coming up this month. That’s not ideal, considering the months the Raiders and Garoppolo will lose before they can start working together with the starting offence. However, this isn’t yet a hint that a backup plan is required.

There’s nothing we can do about the Brady rumours at this point, but that timeline isn’t helpful. Especially considering that Brady, in another regard, also lied in his own bed by having an affair with the Miami Dolphins.

If you don’t remember, Brady was supposed to retire in the offseason of 2022, join the Dolphins as an executive and half owner, and then start at quarterback for the team in either 2022 or 2023.

Last summer, Brady had planned to retire, but his plans were derailed after former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores sued the organisation and the NFL, alleging that team owner Stephen Ross had tampered with Brady.

After losing the lawsuit, Brady returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under ambiguous terms. After the NFL looked into Flores’ allegations, it was determined that Ross had definitely committed tampering while courting Brady, and the Dolphins lost a first-round draught pick as a result.

Considering that Brady has just announced his retirement and is now trying to buy into a team that has quarterback issues, it appears like the same play is being run again, this time with Raiders owner Mark Davis in place of Stephen Ross.

The same Mark Davis who UFC President Dana White said he personally struck a contract to get Tom Brady to the Raiders in 2020.

However, it’s important to remember that three years have passed, and the Raiders now have an ageing Brady and an unpredictable roster. It’s possible that something that was successful in 2020 would backfire spectacularly in 2023. And it’s probably safe to assume that both Brady and Davis are aware of this.

It’s not surprising that Brady is still being asked about coming out of retirement, what with all the background and the reality of Garoppolo’s health difficulties.

If it turns out that this is all a charade to hide the fact that a failed scheme is being rehashed, then maybe no one will be too shocked. Count me in as one who will feel deceived if Brady acquires a minority ownership in the Raiders and then somehow ends up playing for the franchise.

Until then, I’m going to have to trust Brady’s word. I’m going to assume that once he says he’s “certain” he won’t play again, we can rest assured that we can continue on without him.
