UFC 289: Amanda Nunes Leaves On Top After A Faultless Performance Against Irene Aldana

Amanda Nunes performed flawlessly twice on one of her most fabulous evenings ever.

First, she gave an almost faultless performance against Irene Aldana in the main event of UFC 289 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Saturday. The bantamweight record for most takedowns was achieved by her when she won by scores of 50-44 twice and 50-43.

After finishing her job, she retired, leaving the sport as the best female MMA fighter of all time and the champion at both bantamweight and featherweight. By the customary MMA retirement ritual, she laid both of her belts in the center of the Octagon before having her gloves cut and setting them on the ground.

She kissed her belts while on her knees and then lowered her head to the ground.

She was ecstatic as she stood up, and after a joyful post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier, she ran about the Octagon taking photos, pouring beer on herself and other people, and just enjoying one of the finest careers ever.

“Tonight is the perfect time to retire.”  Amanda Nunes

She outperformed Aldana in every manner with a fantastic performance. Aldana didn’t do much to the fight in the opening round other than to miss a sharp counter right hand, but a much more skilled opponent pounded her mercilessly.

According to Nunes, she has been battling for so long that her mother has questioned when she will put them to rest.

“She cannot take any more.” Amanda Nunes

Nunes established a bar that will take a lot of work to surpass. She defeated seven women previously holding a UFC title, including Holly Holm, Cris “Cyborg” Justino, Julianna Pea, Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, and Holly Shevchenko twice.

In addition to possessing two belts, and stood by both of them.

She defeated the female competitors and left as one of the best fighters overall, regardless of gender. She accomplished more than many men.

Simply put, Aldana wasn’t up to the challenge but wasn’t the only one. No one could touch Nunes when she was at her best.

Also, no one will be enrolled in her class for long.
