Western Conference Finals: Luka Dončić Powers Mavericks to a 3-0 Lead Over Timberwolves
Luka Dončić was the star of the show once again as the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 116-107 in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals at the American Airlines Center on Sunday.
Luka and the Mavericks kept Anthony Edwards shut for most of the game. However, he came back strongly in the third quarter in an attempt to keep the Minnesota Timberwolves season alive. However, his effort was a bit too late.
Dončić and Kyrie Irving, the deadly duo, were instrumental in keeping the Timberwolves winless in what was expected to be a competitive series. They combined for 66 points and helped spark a 14-3 run to close out the game and the nine-point win.
Dončić now averages 32.7 points per game so far in the Western Conference finals, while Irving has scored at least 30 points in two of their three wins.
He was the star of the show with 32 points, 13 assists, 10 rebounds and a game-winner when the Mavericks won the nail-biting thriller on Friday.
The third consecutive victory puts the Mavericks in a commanding position. They are just one win away from taking the series and confirmed entry to their first NBA Finals in 13 years. They last played finals in the 2010-11 season.
Game 4 is set for Tuesday night in Dallas. This would be the last chance for the Timberwolves to stage a comeback in the series.
