Reaction Of Connor Bedard On His First NHL Goal
When Connor Bedard scored his first goal of the NHL preseason on Tuesday to help his team defeat the Detroit Red Wings, he was able to put the monkey off his back.
With 1:09 remaining in the game, Bedard sent the puck into an empty net from well beyond the blue line, giving the Chicago Blackhawks a one-goal advantage.
He did not even grin in response to Chelsea Dagger playing above the applause of the audience, which was quite stoic of him. Being able to score his first NHL goal on such a simple shot certainly made the prodigy a bit disappointed.
“He’s kind of a humble guy. He doesn’t want to celebrate that. He didn’t even really celebrate coming in. He’s kind of bashful. He wants to score a nice goal.”

With four assists, including the two that went along with his goal on Tuesday, Connor Bedard has demonstrated a variety of exceptional abilities on the ice in preseason.
NBC Sports Chicago quoted Kyle Davidson, general manager of the Blackhawks,
“I think you see the skill, the sense, the pace of play, it’s all there. It’s just him getting acclimated to the NHL game, used to a couple of new line mates, new city and I’m sure he’ll be up to speed in no time.”
