Ferrari Mistake; Carlos Sainz Won’t Compete In Qatar GP
The Spaniard was 12th on the starting grid but is not participating in Sunday’s race at the Lusail Circuit.
Due to an error with his fuel system of Ferrari, Carlos Sainz won’t start the Qatar Grand Prix.
Even though the Spanish driver qualified just 12th on the starting row, he won’t even do a lap in the race on Sunday at the Lusail Circuit.
Sainz cannot continue competing, the team said little than an hour before the start of the race, despite Ferrari mechanics’ best efforts to resolve the problem. Saturday’s sprint race saw Sainz come in sixth.
βWe had an issue when we fueled the car, an issue on the fuel system. It was too late to change something. Itβs a shame because he was in a good momentum after Monza and Singapore. It is what it is.β Fred Vasseur, Ferrari boss
