After Missing Time With Leg Injury, Chiefs Wide Receiver Justyn Ross Practising Again

Veterans have reported to training camps across the NFL, marking the official start of the season. Media is your go-to source for breaking sports news, highlights, player injuries, and player holdouts.

The Kansas City Chiefs had a rough Tuesday. Three wideouts were hurt during practise and had to leave due to various injuries.

After suffering injuries themselves, Lhmir Smith-Marsette (groyne), Nikko Remigio (shoulder dislocation), and Justyn Ross (knee/hamstring) all had to be helped off the pitch.

It’s not ideal to have three wide receivers get hurt in practise a month before the season starts. Wednesday, however, brought good news.

Ross returned to practise, and he ran as though he had no limp or other physical restrictions.

After going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, Ross, then 23 years old and having played for Clemson from 2018 to 2021, signed with the Chiefs in May 2022.

A foot injury he suffered in training camp led to his placement on injured reserve two months later, and he never played a game in his rookie season.

Now that he’s recovered from his foot ailment, Ross is pushing to earn a bench place on the team’s deep roster. The Chiefs’ top wideout possibilities include Kadarius Toney, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Skyy Moore.

Rashee Rice, a rookie, has also excelled in preseason. But Ross has also had a stellar couple of weeks.

The leg injury he suffered on Tuesday has healed quickly, so he can keep playing and proving that the Chiefs should keep him on the team come September.
