Brock Purdy: MVP Discussion An Honor And Credit To Group I’m On
Being the last choice in the draft and then guiding his club to the NFC West title, Brock Purdy was one of the greatest storylines in the game at this time last year.
Despite being one of the league’s most talked-about players, the quarterback isn’t surprising anybody this season. Currently, Purdy’s MVP qualifications are the major topic of discussion. Brock Purdy leads the league in completion %, yards per attempt, and passer rating while leading the 49ers, who are now on pace to win the top seed in the NFC playoffs. The 49ers are the third-highest scoring in the league.
Purdy said he isn’t focused on it as the 49ers approach the end of the regular season, despite his teammates’ loud promotion of his cause during a Tuesday visit on KNBR.
According to 49ersWebzone.com, Purdy stated,
“When I get asked the question and stuff, then what comes to mind is what an honor.” Nothing detracts from that for me. I’m really thrilled to hear it, and what an honor. Concurrently, though, I’m doing everything I can for this squad, this Sunday, and this practice or meeting. Awards and such are not something I’m interested in. I see it more as a team award, if anything. I’m surrounded by fantastic people. I have excellent special teams, a strong defense, and people who are all creating plays around me. Which is evidence of my team’s effectiveness.”
One other apparent front-runner for the award is Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, and how the two teams finish up in Week 18 may end up influencing the outcome of the voting.
