Camila Giorgi Affirms Her Retirement
Officially announcing her retirement from tennis, Italian athlete Camila Giorgi is the subject of an investigation by Italian tax authorities.
After her inexplicable exit from the tennis courts, well-known 32-year-old Italian player Camila Giorgi, the four-time WTA Tour champion, has formally announced her retirement.
Giorgi wrote on Instagram, “I’m happy to officially declare my retirement from the game of tennis.”
With over 741,000 Instagram followers, the Italian tennis player expressed her gratitude with these words: “I am so appreciative of your amazing love and support over the years. I am grateful for every single lovely memory.”
Giorgi, who was a model in addition to a tennis player, explained, saying,
“I would like to provide more information about the exciting possibilities I will have in the future. There have been many false rumors about my future plans.”
The Italian tax authorities are looking into Camila Giorgi while she waits for her trial.
According to the Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, Camila Giorgi is the subject of a Guardia di Finanza investigation about “loopholes” in her tax obligations.
It is believed by the investigators that Giorgi migrated to the United States from Europe. He is scheduled to appear before the investigating court in Vicenza on July 16.
